Finding self-worth

It can be hard to be in a job where you feel your tasks are remedial, when you wonder if your contributions are meaningful and feel that you are in a job hierarchy. The fact is our value and identity is always in God. God has created each on of us perfectly, full of poise, grace, assurance of God, good. We can never be diseased, hurt, belittled, insignificant, too important and not important enough. God sees us as secure in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you

Wow. Before you ever came to know this planet, God knew you AND you knew Him. God knows you, loves you, maintains you, sustains you.

the kingdom of God is within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you]

Where does your true worth and value come from? It comes from seeing and knowing who you really are as a child of an infinite God.

Sometimes the most meaningful opportunities in life pay the least or not at all. So, what is a way that we can know our efforts are really valuable?

By following Christ Jesus’ example. Looking for some words that you can say to lift someone up; giving a smile; seeing the best in someone.

Happiness consists in being and in doing good; only what God gives, and what we give ourselves and others through His tenure, confers happiness: conscious worth satisfies the hungry heart, and nothing else can.

You have the gift of seeing the face of God in each person you meet. By radiating the spiritual qualities you inherently have, such as grace, poise, beauty, wisdom, foresight, trustworthiness, patience, honesty you will make a difference.

Not only will expressing God’s qualities glorify God, it will bless you enabling you to feel your oneness with Christ, Truth.

let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Wherever you are, in whatever you do, be a force for good by glorifying God.

Reblog: Use what you have

Use what you have

By Patricia Hardee  (Reblogged from CSMonitor.com)

In an interior design magazine, an advertisement caught my eye: “USE WHAT YOU HAVE. No big deal. Take the terror out of decorating. Talented professional can help you. No job too small or too large. References. Immediate results.”

It was designer Lauri Ward’s ad about using what people already have as a foundation to renew their home décor. For many people, her good idea revolutionized the interior design business. Rearranging for immediate and improved use what is already ours made such good sense, and I thought, That’s an essential principle that Jesus taught.

Speaking of what is already ours through God’s law of abundance, Jesus said, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:24, New International Version [NIV])…Read more

It’s only by opening our eyes that we will see more…

I’m grateful for this lovely post written by my husband. Thanks, John, for inspiring us with these wonderful ideas!

It’s Only By Opening Our Eyes That We Will See More.

Inspired by the lovely book, A Simple Act of Gratitude, I have been taking very specific and conscious moments in my days to just give gratitude.  This recognition of the good in my days has made me more aware of the immense good that is here!  It’s only by opening our eyes that we will see more….

Man is not the creator.

When we think man is a creator, we think that man is responsible for creating health; he or she must have perfect genetics to make up the perfect child.  Man has to maintain and sustain himself through a job, money, right connections, exercise, healthy eating, and at the same time try to fulfill his own hopes and dreams.

This is a lot of stress on man.  And it has side-effects such as stubbornness, human will, manipulation, deceit, as well as selfishness, competition, and fear.

Fortunately, this picture is not accurate.

Spirit, God created man, perfect in His own image and likeness.  Man has all the qualities and characteristics to do and achieve that which he needs.  They are including in his being.  All of his hopes and aspirations are given to him by God and therefore fulfilled and satisfied through Him.  God blesses his children with beautiful relationships that are loving, kind, and caring.  God supplies all of man’s needs and wants because man’s purpose is to glorify and express God (Life, Truth, Love).  Man’s sufficiency comes from God.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;”[i]

All beauty, fruitfulness and plenty come from God and are the attributes of His government.  There is no lack or limitation to the infinite, supreme, all good, God.

“And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.”[ii]

When we are conscious of this Truth, we are governed by divine Mind.  We hear God’s direction and are one with God’s thoughts, which are always good, lovely, assuring angel messages.  We are governed obediently, following and yielding to the divine will, which includes and blesses all with infinite intelligence.

“Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.”[iii]

So we can be reassured and rest in God’s love.  We can yield to this spiritual sense of things, which is telling us this truth each moment, uplifting and blessing us.

And we can make more space for God, Spirit, in our lives.  God, good, is already governing and controlling things.  Our duty is to be conscious and aware of this.  This takes daily prayer to quiet the limited human sense of things for the spiritual and true sense of what God sees and knows.  As we yield to this we will be governed by divine Mind and we will experience the fruits of this government in our lives.  This includes more consistent health, a greater sense of energy and purpose, better family relationships, a more stable structure, and abundant supply that comes with ease.

Spirit, which is infinite intelligence, governs all things perfectly and It’s reign is here and now.  Let’s yield to this in our thought and feel the blessings that are included for all mankind.

Divine economy

Reading a recent Christian Science Monitor article entitled, “Job numbers for May squelch some economic optimism”, got me thinking about the truth of our real economy. The Monitor’s founder writes, “mortals are hastening to learn that Life is God, good, and that evil has in reality neither place nor power in the human or the divine economy.” (Science and Health, p. 327)

If life is God, than life is infinite and unlimited. Life doesn’t know human times and conditions but is always the same. And if our real economy is divine, it never changes. It is always abundant with good. When we are governed by God, good, we can never see or experience lack. God, good, guides us in right business decisions, shows us the power of truth, honesty, morality and integrity and saves us from the subtle or aggressive temptation to cheat, steal, lie, be greedy or selfish. These “errors” in thought tip the human economy to the side of limit and lack.

However, if we are all governed by honesty, integrity, generosity, and gratitude than we are governed rightly and we can only experience God’s abundance and security. We have begun rightly because we are on the side of God and our true spiritual nature. God’s creation is already perfect, whole, and complete and includes all that is needed. Every need is provided and cared for by God, our Father. This is God’s job and God isn’t going to forget to care for His beloved children. So when we eliminate fear and worry or lack and limitation from our consciousness, we are naturally at-one with God’s law of harmony, supply, and goodness.

I experienced this in the last several months. I was recently married, changed careers, and moved across the country. Mortal mind, or the carnal mind as the Bible calls it, whispered predictions of failure, fear, lack and limitation into my thought. Sometimes they weren’t whispers and were more like aggressive yelling. But I held to the fact that existence is spiritual and comes from God. God naturally governs and cares for his creation and knows no seasons or times. That care is always – constant and consistent. If life is spiritual/God than every part of life including home, food, activity, entertainment, friendships, children are also spiritual.

Well my husband and I had to rely on much less of our savings than I had anticipated. And the income was simply there. I’m not even sure where it came from at times but it just never seemed depleted. I was amazed, and it reminded me of the Bible stories where Jesus fed the multitude out of a few loaves of bread and fishes and all were filled; and the story of the woman whom Elijah told to gather up vessels from her neighbors and they were all filled by Spirit so that she could sell the oil and pay off her debts and live off the rest. The Bible says, “And it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said unto her son, Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.” (II Kings 4:6).

I felt like this woman. And most recently we were able to buy a house. And even when we tried to skimp and save and get a smaller, cheaper house, God’s abundant goodness led us with the guidance and means to get a bigger and better house that would be more suitable for all of our needs. The transaction was so apparently divine inspired because it was such a blessing and harmonious for the owners, for us, and all involved in the unfoldment.

I am so grateful for God’s goodness and how He takes care of everything and has nothing but abundant goodness for all His children. And any temptation that comes to our thought saying otherwise is simply denying God’s allness and goodness. We can calmly and persistently rise above that suggestion and know we are safe and secure in God’s love and kingdom.

Supply

I read an interesting article which really helped me to understand that supply is spiritual and is actually a law and natural part of being.  It’s called Supply as Spiritual Reflection.

The most important thing for me to realize is that supply doesn’t come from a job, it actually comes from God.  A job is just a manifestation of supply, or God taking care of us. But the source is always the same – God.  When I realized that, supply was able to come into my experience in a number of ways that I wouldn’t have expected or perhaps even recognized or been truly grateful for.  Friends, church members, and family members have naturally given us food, sporting goods, clothing, books, furniture of their own accord.

Realizing that supply is so much broader than a paycheck has really helped me to see the fullness of supply and all the ways that supply is present.  Perhaps it is the supply of ideas for an assignment or creativity in your business or artwork or ideas and inspiration if you’re looking for spiritual healing.

Supply is a natural and normal part of our being and existence and because God is it’s source, there can’t be any lack since God is infinite, unlimited, endless good.  Also since God doesn’t know time, God doesn’t see supply here today and gone tomorrow.  It is ever the same constant and consistent.

Another idea the article talks about is that it’s not my supply or your supply, it’s simply supply.  Just like it’s not my sun or your sun, it’s the sun.  We all have the same supply, and therefore the same access to supply.  Supply is based on our reflection of God.  Man is more than the recipient of good, man is the expression of good.  So if we go out with the motive and mindset of expressing God, divine Mind, Soul, Love, we never have to fear any lack.  We will have all that we need.

Supply is as normal and natural as the leaves changing in the Fall.  Instead of dreading paying for things, we can realize that trading money for a service or a product is simply the expression of gratitude.  And we can rejoice in giving gratitude as well as joyfully accepting when people see our value and give gratitude to us.

Prayer

As I was reading and studying the Bible along with Science and Health this morning, I realized that prayer is an absolute benefit to us.  What I mean by this is that prayer doesn’t change God; it doesn’t change God’s action or God’s will, and it doesn’t bring God down to us.

Prayer lifts us up to God.  God already sees and knows perfection.  He/She sees and knows its perfect creation as flawless, spiritual and immortal.

In the chapter entitled Prayer in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (by Mary Baker Eddy), it states:

Prayer cannot change the Science of being, but it tends to bring us into harmony with it. (pg. 2:15)

I find such comfort in this statement.  And it helps me ask myself more clearly, why would I let anything stop me from praying?  Why would I not find the time or not feel like it when I know it is only blessing me and lifting me up?  In this world we find time to do the things that are good for us and that make us feel good – going to the gym, eating healthy, researching and doing new things.

But prayer absolutely lifts us up higher than any of these things can.  It makes us feel at peace, and have less stress and worry.  This of course impacts our health as well as our interactions with our family and relationships. Prayer opens up our thought to new ideas and opportunities which affects our business endeavors and life purpose.  This makes us feel more fulfilled, a greater sense of self-worth and value, and results in more consistent supply.

So why wouldn’t we pray?  Prayer is going to open us up to more of God’s perfection; seeing and knowing Him/Her more clearly and with more understanding.  Prayer will absolutely not change God; it won’t make Him act differently, or think differently, and it won’t make him “do” anything He wasn’t already doing.

So let’s not cheat ourselves out of what is going to benefit us most greatly, along with blessing the rest of the world.  Let’s find that time to sit, be still, listen, read the Bible, Science and Health or other spiritual writings.  And this will greatly benefit us, bless us, and lift us up (our thought, our consciousness) to behold and see God.
