Messages of worth and love

You are loved.

You are needed.

You have a holy origin.

You are made in the image and likeness of God, good.

You are special. God delights in you. She rejoices that She made you.

These are the messages that matter.

Wouldn’t it be great if instead of advertisements of sexuality, violence, and disease that run rampant in today’s media that we are instead reminded of our inherent worth as God’s image and likeness? Wouldn’t it be nice to receive reminders and affirmations to love one another and see the child of God in each of us? Just as we treat children with such tenderness, we can also nurture the child within each of us that hopes for and desires the eternal love of an all good Mom/Dad, that Jesus called “Abba”, Daddy.

You are sinless, you are eternal. Reminding ourselves of how our Creator makes us and sees us enables us to be a healer everyday, whether we are participating in larger actions of restorative justice or simply being faithful over the little things we can do each day.

We are made to heal because we reflect the heart of God. We are made to bind up the brokenhearted. We are made to wash each others feet with our tears.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

You are mine

“You are mine” and “You are special”. Sweet books by Max Lucado that we read to our little one. They are sweet because they remind us that what the world says of us can’t really stick if we don’t believe it. We can daily listen to our Maker, the Creator of the universe, that tells us how perfect, special and good He made us.

There is a lot of noise in the world. Clanging cymbals of doubt, lack, remorse, uncertainty. But we can counteract this by dwelling in the “secret place of the Most High”, listening to the thoughts that God gives us.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.*

God has only good for you and that goodness exists right now within you. Good is the truth about you now and forever.

The Bible tells about the disciples hearts that burning within them while they talked with Jesus (as he illuminated the Scriptures to them).

Don’t we all want out hearts to burn within us through an inspiration and spiritual understanding? God says “before you were in the womb, I knew you” and “the very hairs on your head are all numbered.”

Each of us is infinitely valued, needed and special to God. Each us has an individuality that is safe and pure. Each of us is spiritual, made in the image and likeness of Life and Love itself.

A simple sharing

We all have much to share and give. We each are special to our Father Mother God, who is loving and embracing us always.

How do we use these gifts and talents? Knowing that we can not be deprived of an opportunity to give is a good starting place. Infinite Mind, the Mind that is within us and speaking to us, is awakening us to ways to shine; awakening us to our divine inheritance that enables us to give and shine.

What about when it seems like we have too much that we need to receive to be able to think about giving? The hypnotic thoughts of lack prevent us from seeing that we have what we need each moment. We don’t need to be afraid and imagine a future where we run out.

Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.*

As we realize and acknowledge that we can not be separated from divine Life, Truth and Love we will be sustained.  We can’t stay captivated by lack and fear.

Giving can not deplete us. We all have the divine privilege to give and to experince the joy and satisfaction that comes from sharing our God-given talents with the world.

What are some ways we can give right where we are? Praying for our neighbors around the world, being supportive to friends, holding a door open, giving a smile and a hug. Expressing gratitude and joy makes us feel the divine richness that it ours and brings positive changes.

So, go ahead and give! It will brighten your (and someone else’s) day!
YOU ARE LOVED. CHERISHED. VALUED. VALUABLE.

Thought of the day

I love to pray with these healing words from this beautiful hymn by Peter B. Allen . . .

You are God’s purpose,
His great design.
Beautiful, blameless,
His child divine.
Holding your thought to the good and the true,
Spirit will form you anew.
Rise up and walk!
God made you free, born of His liberty.
Carefree and strong,
you are His song,
perfect for all to see.

Peter B Allen, Rise Up, Christian Science Hymn 453:1

Such power comes to our consciousness when we claim, accept and live these ideas!

Finding happiness in service

20160404_182608It seems challenging to hold on to happiness. The amount of time and energy that has been devoted to helping people find happiness through books, websites, courses, etc. is amazing.

Lately, the understanding that happiness comes from selfless service has been coming to me with new veracity. I know this fact theoretically, but how do we make this practical right where we are in the minutiae of our day?

The other evening, I was in heartfelt prayer and I made a gratitude list of all the opportunities to serve that had come that day. Some were small like helping our son potty train. Some felt bigger like prayerfully addressing problems in Syria and North Korea. However big or small, though, creating this list opened my eyes to seeing all have countless ways we have to serve our Father-Mother God each day.

These countless ways to serve often come with opportunities to overcome the resistance which says: “I don’t want to, or I don’t feel like it, or I don’t have enough time or money or energy to help others”. These thoughts are an impostor and should be cast out! If listened to, they would keep us from fulfilling our true destiny as children of God.

I’m grateful for the endless service opportunities we have each day and wishing you a peace-filled, service-oriented life.

Redemption & an inspiring example from Mary

woman-591576_960_720I love the inspiring example of Mary Magdalene in the Bible. We don’t know a lot about this woman, but we do know that she went to Jesus seeking forgiveness and was ready to repent, change her actions, and seek Christ.

[She] stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

Jesus treats her compassionately and forgives her sins (even defending her to the Pharisee who was judging her) . What a profound healing that must have been for Mary!

“Which of them will love him most?” was the Master’s question to Simon the Pharisee; and Simon replied, “He to whom he forgave most.” Jesus approved the answer, and so brought home the lesson to all, following it with that remarkable declaration to the woman, “Thy sins are forgiven.”

The part that I love is that Mary didn’t turn around and dwell on her mistakes; the Bible tells us she became a follower of Jesus, was there for him at the crucifixion and was even the first to see him after his resurrection.

What a practical, inspiring example for us today! We’ve all made past mistakes and wish we could have done things differently. But ruminating on them isn’t going to help! That is why I love the example of Mary. She didn’t need to wonder why she had done the things she had; she didn’t turn to the past to inform her who she was — whom Jesus saw that she was; she was a completely free woman fully capable of living her divine purpose going forward. The transformation that took place in her was a complete “new birth” experience.

We can all learn from Mary’s example, and go forward and shine!

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

We are immeasurable goodness expressed!

Humans love to measure things.

dawn-190055_960_720We measure our bodies. We measure our income. We measure our life expectancy.

Are there things that we can’t measure? Yes, and the most meaningful is infinite Spirit.

Spirit is the source of your identity. The real you. And you can not be measured!

You are infinite just like your Father-Mother Creator. You are incorporeal just like your Father-Mother God. You are at one with Her Being, and you reflect everything that She is!

How’s that for a measurement? It’s infinite!

Sometimes we get fooled into thinking that the things we do make us valuable. But our identity is already created in the image and likeness of God, and that’s priceless! So, next time you get trapped into thinking how many Facebook likes you get determines your value; or how much money you make; or how many years you’ve been on this planet — none of these give you real value. We all have the same value and it’s immeasurable!
