God fills the gaps

During my morning prayer, I was contemplating some future plans. I became increasingly aware that God was filling the gaps or space of my plan.  My human vision of things could only take me so far. Psalm 116 says, “the Lord has dealt bountifully with you”.  This tells me that love, peace, health, harmony and blessings are filling the parts that I can’t foresee.

Though human outlines or plans can be helpful, they are in and of themselves limited.  Isn’t it wonderful to know that God’s will for us is bounty? God has abundance, health, grace, companionship, and love planned for each of us. And this isn’t just a future plan that God has, but is actually His will that He is enforcing right now.

You know the London saying “mind the gap”; how about saying “God fills the gaps”? I like to make acronyms as a way to help me to see concepts more spiritually. I’ve been thinking about “G.A.P.” as “God’s Apparent Provision”.  What is an acronym that you came up with for “gap” or some other concept?

We can recognize God’s spiritual substance – His provision of health, happiness, freedom and abundance, filling all space so there really are no gaps!

So just remember while our human outlines and goals have all sorts of unforeseen circumstances, God is like the Rain-X (glass treatment) of our lives – He fills all the space in whatever human goal we may have. He foresees every need and circumstance; He gives us with relationships that mutually bless; His will is success and abundance for His creation; His love wraps up each individual and all.

Let the light in to your consciousness!

Today I was feeling overwhelmed by a set of circumstances. I couldn’t seem to lift my thought above the limiting situation and into the spiritual realm of hope and divine possibilities.

So, I decided to pray, and I read an article called “Focus on the silver and wheat”. The author writes,

“Even as I fretted about these situations, though, divine Soul’s strength kept coming back in response. Id’ strengthen my mental position with what was at first a meek, humble affirmation that God loves us, that God knows we are good, that all is well, that we all deserve good in our lives. Eventually, the more I pulled myself up with these ideas (holding thought, as Mary Baker Eddy reminds on page 261 of Science and Health, ‘steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true’), the more I strengthened my hold on the substance of Christ’s teachings: the wheat, the silver, the stability, the abundant grace for all humanity.” (Christian Science Sentinel, 2.13.12)

What the author wrote about was exactly what I needed to do!  So I did and this is what I discovered:

Each divine thought (or “angel message”) acts as a light in our consciousness. If we are troubled with fear, worry, or regret there is a lot of darkness in our thought.  Divine ideas (with their signs of peace, hope and assurance of ever-present Love) are a light that casts a warm glow in the darkness. Turning on one light, or letting in one good thought, reminds us of the good.  Ahhh…that feels good!

So we let in another and another and…more light! Soon our whole consciousness is filled with light.  We remember that joy, happiness, health, and abundance are natural in our experience.  We let go of the problem and in this way we turn it over to God.  This is called “letting go and letting God” or as Christ Jesus said: “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)

So, the next time you feel like you’re in the dark, turn on the light!  Let in one good thought and see how the light multiplies.  This gets “you” out of the way, and leaves radiant room for God to supply His spiritual solutions.

Our oneness with the Divine

This morning I was thinking about the difference between being a good human versus feeling one with God.If we are either a bad mortal or a good mortal, we still think, act and feel separate from God.  However, if we strive to feel Gods presence, to pause, be still, wait and listen for divine thoughts and guidance, we can see and feel that we are one with God.

Mary Baker Eddy, a spiritual leader and teacher (1821-1910) asked, “When will the ages understand the Ego, and realize only one God, one Mind or intelligence?” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 204)

She fully accepted and taught that we can be governed by divine Mind here, and do not have to wait until some future time when we can feel this harmony and oneness.

This is the definition of I AM: “God; incorporeal and eternal Mind; divine Principle; the only Ego” (Ibid, p. 588).

There is an eternal Principle governing us – consistently, harmoniously and unchanging.  This divine Principle is within us guiding, governing, and speaking.

When we try to simply be ‘good humans’ we end up suffering.  We tend to think if we have to do enough things and say all the right things and then all these will add up.  Perhaps we even think this will get us into heaven later.  We end up feeling stressed and afraid.  We may even feel we have an effect on another’s salvation or well-being.

But the Truth is that we are at one with God. It is natural for us to hear His voice – so natural that we may not even realize it’s His voice speaking to us (and may think it’s our own!).  But God, divine Love, is communicating with us all the time and is able to make Himself/Herself heard.   God has never left us and is not leaving us now or in the future.

So let’s try dwelling in the consciousness of our oneness with God today! Look forward to hearing your thoughts below. 🙂
