Mental inbox

Today I took some time to clean out my inbox. I don’t know how I end up subscribed to so many emails; I usually just ignore them (which is easy to do with the new Google filters) and once in a while I’ll delete them all.

However, today I took the time to unsubscribe from the many lists. Wow, did that feel good! Imagine: having an inbox where you hear only what you want to hear. It’s so tranquil and peaceful.

That is the mental atmosphere, or consciousness, I want to live in as well. It is peaceful and still, and all I can hear is God speaking to me.

This is possible!

Unsubscribe from all the voices you don’t need to hear: self-criticism, condemnation, worry, human will and opinions, etc.

Enjoy a mental inbox that is peaceful and tranquil. Only receive messages of love, value, your worth, purity, innocence and beauty as a child of God. You have an indestructible relationship to your Father-Mother God. And She is speaking messages of comfort and healing to you each moment.

Universal message of Christ

After reading the news story, “Culture wars: Holiday struggle over public spaces still very much alive“, I prayed to know that the spiritual significance of Christ can unite us, instead of divide us.

I’ve heard that the use of the words: Christ, God, and Jesus are a turn-off for some people and make them think about political parties, war, injustice, etc. instead of their spiritual, healing meaning.
I love the definition of Christ given in Christian Science:

“Christ is the true idea voicing good, the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 339)

Christ is not so much a person in Christian Science as it is the divine voice, guidance, influence, attraction, and healing power.

It is also described as: the spiritual and true idea of God; that which alone confers the healing power.

The textbook of Christian Science continues:

“Jesus is the name of the man who, more than all other men, has presented Christ, the true idea of God…” (p. 473)

Each of us has the power and ability to express the Christ and be a healing influence on our friends, families and neighbors.

The Christ is what elevates us, wipes away our tears, gives us hope and understanding, unites family and friends, enables us to rise higher in our life achievements, impels unselfish giving, heals sickness, and focuses our thought on the eternal and peaceful.

It is our link to the divine.

There is nothing in Spirit which can divide us. It’s very nature is eternal, complete, whole, pure and perfect.

In this season and every season, the universal, healing message of the Christ is speaking to us.

Praying when shopping

One way that I utilize prayer is to know what to buy and when to buy it. Pray has helped me make right purchases at the right time and has also saved me from unproductive shopping & useless transactions. Prayer saves time & money.

I’ve learned that nothing in God’s kingdom is wasted. And that something isn’t a waste if there is a right motive behind it.

One definition of economy is:
the management of the resources of a community, country, etc., especially with a view to its productivity (dictionary.com)

Everything in God’s creation, or what I think of as the Kingdom of Heaven, has value. There are no worthless or unproductive ideas. Therefore everything in our experience can be useful and productive. This saves us from the unsatisfying cravings of commercialism (or buying things just because we like to shop & spend money). It also saves us from being too tight with our money and hoarding it. Neither of these tendencies can occur when we have a spiritual perspective.

Here’s an example:
Last year I decided I wanted an eReader. However, intuitively I knew it wasn’t right to buy one. I still explored the possibility and researched all the eReaders that were out there. Nothing fit the requirements that I wanted in a device. I continued to want an eReader but decided to be obedient to my intuition and be patient and see how things worked out (even though I really wanted to know WHY I couldn’t have one). Well a few months later patience paid off. A new eReader was released on the market that had all the features I wanted. And I knew it was the right device for me immediately. It was given to me as a Christmas gift by my family just a few weeks later. I was saved from making a wasteful purchase that wouldn’t have met my needs. And it was a perfect gift for my family to give me, which I have continued to enjoy and use a lot.

I’m sure we’ve all had experiences like these where we follow our intuition and things work out. This intuition, or divine guidance, is speaking to us ALL the time. Listening to it and being obedient is a skill we can cultivate and practice more and more each day.
