Standing up for what’s right

person-723555_960_720I love to stand up and defend what is right and true.

Defending who we are as spiritual children of God is a daily part of my practice.

I strive to do the right thing and pray for guidance to know what that is even when doing something as simple as watching a movie or scheduling appointments. I find that divine guidance is guiding me to express my highest sense of right and moral courage in my interactions and decisions.

I certainly struggle to do the right thing just as every one else does. But the desire to feel and express God in every moment is fulfilled by a living, animating Spirit that leads us out of bad situations and helps us find forgiveness.

Christ is such a powerful force that he wipes the desire for materialism and sensuality completely out of thought.

sun-flower-726978_960_720These “new birth” experiences happen continually and some can even happen dramatically. One of my most profound transforming experiences was when I reached out to the Bible during a dark time in my life and I gained a greater perception of Jesus and the power and significance of his healing ministry today, which caused a dramatic shift in my lifestyle, choices and friendships in post-college years. This conversion experience was needed and ultimately set me on the path to helping others find spiritual freedom.

The desire to do what is right is a daily demand moment-by-moment, even though we may make great strides at different points in our life. For me, it starts with my morning “spiritual bath” prayer when I align myself with God. I pour in the Truth of who I am in quiet prayer and listen for God’s refreshing ideas revealing to me who I really am as His child.

You are loved. You are beautiful. You are safe. These are the types of words that divine Love echos in consciousness. I pray with passages from the Bible, writings by Mary Baker Eddy and hymns because these help to strengthen my understanding and confidence in God as I go throughout my day.

I just read an article with a wonderful, powerful example of taking a stand. A mother stands up for her daughter when the school counselor says her daughter isn’t intellectually fit for college. The mother expresses beautiful moral courage based on an understanding of  who her daughter is as God’s beautiful child. Her daughter receives prayerful support and — I’ll give away the ending — she goes to college, gets two masters degrees and completes a doctorate. Wow, good thing that mother had the moral courage to stand up for what is right! (You can read the full story here.)

The comforting thing is that regardless of where we are in life, our Father-Mother God is always standing up for us, revealing who we are spiritually as His children and giving us the daily inspiration we need to follow Him.

A prayer for peace

balance-15712_960_720God, the universal Spirit, is the Source of all good and never the cause of evil. Good is a term that is synonymous with God. Good is governing the entire universe right now. Good lasts! Good is in harmony with itself and all creation. No one “owns” good because God is good. Good is abundant and always available for all people to rejoice in.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

When we start with God, the Cause of all good, we start our prayers correctly.

We don’t have to react to evil or change our lives to accommodate, or make room for, evil.

We never have to stop living, being and see good!

There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness.

beautiful-16736_960_720God, good, is filling all space. Let that inform your actions. The goodness of God can be the only activity in consciousness when we are at one with God and living love in our daily actions.

The world is in our consciousness and our consciousness makes up our world. So let’s not be dominated by error. Let Good, Truth, dominate error in all our thoughts and actions.

Let’s choose to live in peace, to love all our brothers and sisters,  and not give up or give in to fear.

The evil thinker is the proud talker and doer. The right thinker abides under the shadow of the Almighty. His thoughts can only reflect peace, good will towards men, health, and holiness.

Peace is present right now.

Goodness involuntarily resists evil.

Overcoming sickness through the consciousness of Life

http://pixabay.com/en/beach-female-fit-fitness-fun-girl-17478/When we understand that health is the consciousness of harmony, it’s easy to see how uprooting fear and a belief that we are separated from God — our divine Life and Love — is essential to maintaining health and freedom from sickness.

Mary Baker Eddy understood this and explained it in an article entitled Contagion. Here is an excerpt:

“Floating with the popular current of mortal thought without questioning the reliability of its conclusions, we do what others do, believe what others believe, and say what others say. Common consent is contagious…If only the people would believe that good is more contagious than evil, since God is omnipresence, how much more certain would be the doctor’s success…The confidence of mankind in contagious disease would thus become beautifully less; and in the same proportion would faith in the power of God to heal and to save mankind increase, until the whole human race would become healthier, holier, happier, and longer lived.” Read more

Your prayer and consciousness of God’s power can help and heal.

“There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 228)

“Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.” (Psalm 91)

If you’re praying about fear of contagion and sickness, here is an additional article called “Closing the door on contagion” which can help grow your understanding and confidence in God, ensuring peace and safety.
