A prayer for peace

balance-15712_960_720God, the universal Spirit, is the Source of all good and never the cause of evil. Good is a term that is synonymous with God. Good is governing the entire universe right now. Good lasts! Good is in harmony with itself and all creation. No one “owns” good because God is good. Good is abundant and always available for all people to rejoice in.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

When we start with God, the Cause of all good, we start our prayers correctly.

We don’t have to react to evil or change our lives to accommodate, or make room for, evil.

We never have to stop living, being and see good!

There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness.

beautiful-16736_960_720God, good, is filling all space. Let that inform your actions. The goodness of God can be the only activity in consciousness when we are at one with God and living love in our daily actions.

The world is in our consciousness and our consciousness makes up our world. So let’s not be dominated by error. Let Good, Truth, dominate error in all our thoughts and actions.

Let’s choose to live in peace, to love all our brothers and sisters,  and not give up or give in to fear.

The evil thinker is the proud talker and doer. The right thinker abides under the shadow of the Almighty. His thoughts can only reflect peace, good will towards men, health, and holiness.

Peace is present right now.

Goodness involuntarily resists evil.

Facing your fears…like the Hobbits did

Recently my husband and I watched “The Hobbit” and the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

The “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, in particular, is quite intense with epic battle scenes and constant toil for the characters. I often find myself echoing the Hobbit’s sentiment of being a peaceful people who don’t like adventures. Even watching these movies can be quite exhausting!

As one might already know, watching the extended version of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy is quite an endeavor in and of itself. So I figured I should get the most out of it. Well, I did because I had a spiritual breakthrough!

We might want to run away from the challenges that confront us, like Bilbo & Frodo Baggins wanted to. However, we have the “sword of Truth”, the “armor of goodness” that we can wield to overcome the deception of evil.

For instance, was the ring that Frodo was carrying actually physically heavier as he was climbing up the mountain of Mordor to throw it into the fire? I don’t think so. The ring weighed the same as it always had. However, the resistance to good and the temptation of evil is what seemed to be heavier in Frodo’s thought and he had to summon the courage and will to overcome it.

What if Jesus simply wanted to have a peaceful life and avoid conflict? We wouldn’t have his supreme example of overcoming every obstacle of evil and demonstrating the victory of good, divine Love and spiritual Life. Jesus’ example proves what is possible, and his life-work has been inspiring to me many times.

So, though I may echo the sentiment of the Hobbits, I can feel the dominion of their victory by the end of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The young Hobbits return home with an understanding of what it takes to overcome evil (love, unity, strength, etc). Conquering their fears, instead of hiding from them, has made Middle-earth a better place for all of its inhabitants.

Run and not be weary!

Great and encouraging blog post: Run and not be weary!

I was so moved by their discipline and expectation of finishing the race with a “well done” shout-out and cheering from friends and family. I was inspired by some of the participants who had overcome physical challenges in order to enter the event. Their stories and journeys were brave and remarkable. In so many ways they had already defeated the lies of self-doubt and limitation!
