What is it that really satisfies us?

Satisfaction. What is it and where does it come from?

Dictionary.com defines satisfaction as fulfillment and gratification; gratification is defined as reward, recompense, or gratuity.

To me, satisfaction is a feeling — a feeling of reward —perhaps something that comes from a worthy activity.

I have looked to material things, as most humans have, for satisfaction only to find them fleeting at best.

When I align my thoughts with God — and make my motive to express God — I find the greatest satisfaction even in the little things I do.

Metaphysics resolves things into thoughts, and exchanges the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul.1

When I translate “things into thoughts” and “exchange the objects of sense for the ideas of Soul”, I find a whole new way to feel satisfied because I am aligning myself with the unchanging spiritual law the exists.

craft-737737_960_720This morning I woke up feeling uninspired about the day. I spent time in the morning being quiet, listening to God and aligning my thought with the spiritual reality. I don’t recall all the ideas I prayed with but by then end of this quiet time I was feeling inspired, happy, loving and ready for the day. I baked cookies with my son and we did a new craft project. The morning was so full of kindness, loveliness and freshness. I was so grateful! I loved the motivation of creativity and desire to share in something together. craft-737739__180You could say we turned the “things” — cookies, chocolate chips, glue, scissors, paper — into “thoughts” and saw they were actually vehicles for Spirit, God, to be expressed in joy, peace and creativity.

I find prayer to be the most satisfying activity and a necessity because it opens up windows to God — inspired views that fuel us. It lifts us up to see that who we really are transcends the material senses. cookies-960898_960_720It enables us to see true spiritual reality as a present state and to witness the hand of God in the smile of a child, a gentle breeze, the affection from a dog. It gives us the ability to see God in all that we do — to see the divine sparkle — which shows us we are all loved and spiritual right now.

Whatever we are doing — helping someone find a resolution for a violent situation to baking cookies or visiting with a friend — we can have the divine satisfaction that comes from aligning our view with God — seeing true spiritual substance is always present and perfect.

Spiritual intuition guides financial choices

Spiritual intuition can guide our financial choices whether it’s buying a gift, gas, groceries or a house. The same Principle applies in all transactions big or small.

When I go shopping I like to listen to the “still, small voice” of inspiration which guides me. God never guides us to waste, be stingy or be hasty. There is only perfection and generosity in infinite Principle.

Here’s one small example: I was buying a couple of books for my son for an upcoming road trip. I really wanted to buy the board book “Corduroy” because we both love reading it from the library. But my spiritual intuition told me not to. I trusted that guidance even though I didn’t understand why I shouldn’t buy it.

Well we went to visit my dad’s house on this road trip and he asked me to look through some old boxes of mine. In one of the boxes I found my old copy of the book “Corduroy” from my childhood. We were both surprised and happy, and we got to enjoy reading the book for the remainder of the trip. I was grateful that I was guided not to purchase this book a few weeks prior.

I’ve had the same Principle guide me when buying houses, cars, changing jobs and moving across country. It doesn’t matter what the value is — $1 or $100,000 — the same wisdom and guidance is always there.

As we practice being willing to listen and obey this divine intuition, we can respond more quickly and consistently to these divine thoughts. Not to mention that it’s fun getting to listen to God and feel our connection to the divine Principle everyday.

Happy holidays!

Divine love can dissolve past hurt

Family gatherings can be difficult times for many. How do you feel a sense of God’s presence and love during the holidays? God is the Source of each one’s individuality, so we can all know — spiritually discern — that we are each loved equally despite what may have gone on before.family-591579_960_720

Pure humanity, friendship, home, the interchange of love, bring to earth a foretaste of heaven.1

Our identity, feeling worthy and loved doesn’t actually come from other people, although sometimes friends and family can beautifully reflect how worthy, lovely and lovable we all are. These expressions of joy and appreciation are natural and normal and are signs of God, divine Love’s, kingdom on earth.

Your kingdom come.
    Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.2

Relationships are a good opportunity to dissolve what Mary Baker Eddy calls the “adamant of error”: self-will, self-justification and self-love3 ; the old adage “my way or the highway” mentality; self-righteousness, which wreaks havoc on all of us; then of course there’s just plain old judgement.

Christ Jesus was the perfect example of living and expressing spiritual love.

After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Teacher’ wash-717812_960_720and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you…Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.4

God will bless you for doing them! God will bless you for putting off old resentments. God will bless you for being humble enough to be made new — in the likeness of God!

You deserve to express divine Love — not hold on to the past or limited views of others (that God is not knowing about them). Self-hatred is what makes us feel we are not worthy or loved enough to let go of hatred towards others! We are worth it! Let it go.

Spiritual living and blessedness are the only evidences, by which we can recognize true existence and feel the unspeakable peace which comes from an all-absorbing spiritual love. 5

Feel that unspeakable peace. It is God’s spiritual love wrapping you up and enabling you to move past hurt, condemnation, resentment. You are holy! You are free. You can feel that way by seeing others that way.
