As I was praying for a dear friend this morning, it occurred to me that there is no absence. There is never an absence of God, of Love.
God fills all space. Each moment is already so full of God, good and there is no room for anything else, nor can anything be lacking. Each moment is filled with wisdom, harmony, joy, peace, spirit, spirituality, love, happiness, and clarity.
So in the morning when we think about our day, we can just see and know that each moment is so full of God already. And then we can go into our day with confidence, listening and seeing the good that is already there. We have only beauty and harmony waiting for us because God is already there.
God has already been there, where ever we are going. God has already prepared each place, each step for us. God has already been a part of each activity, each conversation, and each new idea. God is already there, making “radiant room” for us (Christian Science Hymnal, #298). God has already done it because She loves us. She couldn’t know or see anything less than good, anything less than perfection, because Her love for us is what motivates Her, impels Her and is what she sees and knows as an unchanging fact, as all there ever is and all there ever will be.
Time doesn’t govern us because God doesn’t see or know time. Quantum physicists and other scientists have already determined that time isn’t a reality. It is simply the measurement of the material objects rotating around the solar system. But that is a constant and continuous thing; it is the manifestation of God’s powerful, unchanging, constant government. And it is “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Heb 13:8).
God knows and sees the absence of time – therefore all ideas in unchanging perfection. Just stop and consider for a moment that there is no time, and you will see that all fear or regret are in proportion to our sense of time. But God sees and knows only now. There is never anything propelling or advancing us forward which is taking us away or separating us from God. God simply sees our perfect oneness, our perfect relationship with Her. There is nothing that can change this.
“Life is, like Christ, ‘the same yesterday, and to-day, and forever.’ Organization and time have nothing to do with Life.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pg. 249) And in the same book, the definition of year shows the spiritual facts of existence very well.
“A solar measurement of time; mortality; space for repentance.”
“One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love, is a foretaste of eternity. This exalted view, obtained and retained when the Science of being is understood, would bridge over with life discerned spiritually the interval of death, and man would be in the full consciousness of his immortality and eternal harmony, where sin, sickness, and death are unknown. Time is a mortal thought, the divisor of which is the solar year. Eternity is God’s measurement of Soul‐ filled years.”
“One day is with the Lord as a thousand years.” (II Peter iii. 8.)
God is all that propels and moves us forward. Mrs. Eddy states in her book previously cited that “growth is the eternal mandate of Mind” (pg. 520) as well as “progress is the law of God” (pg. 233). Therefore, it is God that is causing us to grow. God is leading and guiding us forward. We aren’t propelled forward by a material force against our will. In fact, nothing governs us but the power of God, good. This is the only power in our lives. So let’s not fear that we can ever be taken away or separate from God. We are always safe in God’s care. And nothing can ever change this scientific fact.
