We can never lose the ability…

We can never lose the ability to glorify God.

We all feel the desire to be valuable and useful — to feel that our life is needed and making a positive difference.

Is it really possible to feel that in any job? In every place we live? How do we sustain a sense of purpose all the time?

He [God] has mercy upon us, and guides every event of our careers. He is near to them who adore Him.

Every moment, with every thought, is the opportunity to know and glorify God.

God is infinite! God is not more present in one place than another. We are as one with God right here, right now, as we ever can be.

Are you looking for a change in circumstances? Look to God for a change in thought!

A new outlook, a new understanding of God, can refresh, motivate and sustain a higher sense of purpose.

The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

You are the living witness to God. God’s Spirit is living in you, moving in you. You have the right to be fearless and care-free.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.

Cultivate a sense of awe — an awe-inspiring awareness — of how God is loving and caring for you today.

God-centered employment

I have a gratitude journal app which sends me notifications with prompts for jotting things down.

write-593333_960_720Today’s topic is about finding meaning in work. It asks:

How does your work help other people?
What unique skills and strengths can you use in your work?

I love the reminder to value our work. It helps me appreciate our uniqueness — that we are individual manifestations of God expressing Him in special and unique ways.

I like to think that we are always employed because EVERY moment God is utilizing us to express His goodness and love. Every moment we are needed and valued. This helps me be motivated and brings inspiration to my work and daily activities.

. . . let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.1

So if you’re looking for employment or simply looking for freshness in your current job, start with an absolute love for God. Loving God, getting really grounded in a deep love for Him/Her, gives us lasting satisfaction and the ability to express Him. Then our work will simply be utilizing the qualities that He has given us such as poise, understanding, compassion, intelligence, joy, and humor to help others.

True prayer is not asking God for love . . . Prayer is the utilization of the love wherewith He loves us.2
In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all . . . 3

Guidance and motivation

How do you really know when God is guiding you?

God’s guidance ALWAYS includes a sense of peace and never a sense of limitation or fear. In fact, we should NEVER let fear motivate us even if society is saying that we need to.

Truth and Love can be and are the real motivating powers in man.1

Divine guidance is speaking to you and motivating you to act and think rightly — the highest, spiritual way — in every situation.

Know, then, that you possess sovereign power to think and act rightly, and that nothing can dispossess you of this heritage . . .2

Sometimes we may feel we lack something —  a career, a home, happiness, a family — but thinking that is focused on what is lacking is never from God.
Don’t compare! It may be tempting to look around and see what others have, but we can rejoice for them — rejoice in all the diverse ways that God is expressed in your colleagues and friends. Comparison will never let us feel abundance.
God is infinite so Her qualities are magnified in infinite ways. God is expressed in unique ways in each of us. Comparing will limit our ability to hear the “gentle whisper” of God telling us what is right and needed for you.3
