Put more weight on your spiritual side

Spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual good.

We don’t hear the words “spiritual sense” used too often, but spiritual sense is essential to our peace and wellbeing. Spiritual sense is how we perceive beauty, goodness, love, affection, tenderness, satisfaction, and fulfillment.  These are spiritual qualities and because we are ultimately spiritual beings we have the capacity to use, see, and feel them now.

Spiritual sense is a conscious, constant capacity to understand God.

Spiritual sense is how we perceive the divine nature. It’s how we perceive the transcendent reality that is above the physical, material senses. This is important because everyone wants lives that reflect peace, health, wellbeing, and satisfaction. Gaining a daily dose of spiritual sense helps us have a consciousness that is uplifted and receptive to perceiving peace and wellbeing.

Spiritual sense, contradicting the material senses, involves intuition, hope, faith, understanding, fruition, reality.

When a consciousness that is imbued with spiritual sense reflects on the body, it manifests health, holiness, and wellbeing. Why is this so important? Because thinking and living with our spiritual sense releases anxiety, fear, and stress. It assures us of our oneness with God, divine Life, Truth, and Love. It shows us that we can never be separated from that Love no matter what the physical senses say. And as we hold to the spiritual fact, the wisdom, confidence, and courage that our spiritual sense communicates will take over. As we believe God more, and believe in physicality less, we tip our mental and spiritual scale. This allows God to tip the scale on the side of the divine and it brings blessings, healing, happiness, wholeness, and peace in our lives.

Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth.

Building on a solid foundation

I’m realizing more and more the need to build our thought, our consciousness, on a strong foundation. Jesus talked about having a house that is built on the rock and when the storms and winds came it couldn’t knock over that house. When our house is built on the sand it falls when the winds and rain come.

That house is our consciousness — our view of ourselves and others — and we want that built squarely on a solid foundation. For me, that foundation comes from the infinite, spiritual Truth that transcends our material senses but is the truth that God, good, is everpresent and we are God’s image and likeness. This is a spiritual fact. When we begin with this premise stated in Genesis 1 that God saw everything that was made as very good, we have the authority to denounce anything in our thought, our mental home, that is unlike God. Through spiritual power we have the ability to deny the supposed power of fear, limitation, lack, negativity of any kind, disease, bad predictions, etc.

We have to awaken to the authority that Christ gives us to deny and denounce any power unlike God. We can do this mentally and spiritually in our prayer closet. We can gain dominion, thought by thought, over believing and accepting things that aren’t from God, Spirit.

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.*

So don’t allow evil/erroneous thinking to dictate your life or push you around! Kick it out! If it isn’t from God, then you don’t have to have it and it isn’t a power.

Turn that serpent into a staff, like Moses did, for you to lean on and to be part of that solid foundation for your journey Spiritward.

Drop the weight and stress of the day

One of my favorite passages to pray with throughout the day is:

let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us (Hebrews 12:1)

This gets my thought off the weight and burden and keeps me focused on God, infinite Spirit. When I keep my thought on the side of God, good, then everything is lighter, fresher, and freer. Limitations begin to fall away. When we align our thought in accord with God, everything lines up. That’s why this passage is an important reminder for me to keep focused on God — big picture — and not get burdened by the details and demands of the day.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29)

Jesus says that this spiritual yoke is easy and light. When we keep our minds focused on Christ, our whole being is filled with that divine, healing, light that brings everything — every thought and detail — in accord with Christ. Bringing every thought into captivity with Christ (2 Cor 10:5).

This aligns our thought and our day. So be present. Focus on the kingdom of God within. Peace and harmony are within. One of the most freeing things Jesus said is that the kingdom of heaven is within us (Luke 17:21). It’s not out there — it’s not outside of you.

You’re blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world. (Matthew 5:8)

So drop that weight, burden, and stress. God loves you. He has given you the keys to the kingdom — the reign of harmony, bliss, and love in your day. All the love you pray for, want and need is right here.

God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. (1 John 4:16)

Living the love of God makes you feel that presence of grace — the Holy Spirit. It imbues your life and mind with healing power, peace, and love. It fills your family, home, and neighborhood with the tangible feeling and presence of agape — universal, divine Love.

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18)

We live in the abundance of the love and grace of infinite Spirit, God, here and now.

Acquaint yourself with God and be at peace (Job 22:21).

This consciousness of God fills us with peace and rest.
