Find a mentor, or be one. Answers are always present.

I’m greatly appreciative of having mentors. In high school and college I never really had one, though I see now how that would have been soooooo helpful. I simply didn’t seek one out. The opportunity never presented itself to me and I didn’t know there was someone who could play that role.

Cherish every opportunity for mentoring. Value this precious resource.

When I took a course in Christian Science healing, I instantly had a mentor – my teacher. I felt so privileged (and still do!) because I realized it’s what I had been wanting and craving for so many years. Here was a woman who I respect and admire, I love the way she thinks and lives; she has her role as my spiritual teacher, and I have my role as her student. What a perfect working out!

Since then I’ve realized we can have more than one mentor, and there are a lot of different ways mentoring can come about. And we can feel free, willing and happy to seek it out. We NEVER have to feel we are doing things alone.  We NEVER have to feel that we are stuck with a question and it’s our job to come up with an answer. We always have support, someone to lean on or go to. Seek that out. Don’t let fear or uncertainty stop you.

God always sees us as growing, expanding, and developing higher and higher. That never has to stop. No matter what age, we can always be growing and learning and enlarging our sense of life. And we never have to do it alone.

Relationships and how we interact with one another (loving, uplifting, and supporting) are so valued by God. This is why we have two great commandments and not just the one – Have only one God & love your neighbor as yourself.  (The Gospel According to St. Matthew: 22)

I rejoice and my heart sings for having mentors I can turn to. There is an answer. God is speaking, guiding, supporting, and uplifting us. Don’t think we have to go it alone or find an answer by ourselves. It is always God’s abundance, goodness, and provision being expressed and communicated to us around the clock.  This often comes as an “angel message” in our thought, or as an idea someone shared, or even the way the idea is communicated.

Love our mentors and these wonderful opportunities. Cherish and nurture them, and never undervalue them.

Perhaps there is a mentoring opportunity in your area. You may want to volunteer to provide that support, role model, wisdom, perspective, and consistency for someone else.  http://www.volunteermatch.org/

Find the help and the answers you seek today. Or provide that for someone else.

Here to help you do that, if you’d like. Feel free to call or write.

Letting go…Forgiving yourself and others

Let go of any past, any shame, or regret, thinking you were right, thinking you were wrong, or mistake.  Just let go.  Walk in the path of harmony, peace, joy, forgiveness and freedom.  It is within all of us – each of us.  There is only one Ego – one Being, divine, and all is One with it – in connection with it.  “There is but one real attraction, that of Spirit.  The pointing of the needle to the pole symbolizes this all-embracing power or attraction of God, divine Mind.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 102)

Let’s go a little further with understanding what Ego is:

“I, or Ego. – Divine Principle; Spirit; Soul; incorporeal, unerring, immortal, and eternal Mind. There is but one I, or Us, but one divine Principle, or Mind, governing all existence; man and woman unchanged forever in their individual characters, even as numbers which never blend with each other, though they are governed by one Principle. All the objects of God’s creation reflect one Mind, and whatever reflects not this one Mind, is false and erroneous…” (Ibid, P. 588)

Let go of any false sense of “you”, which is separate from the one Being, or Consciousness.  There are no limitations, no inequality, no lack, and no loss of balance.  There is only the One Ego, divine Being and It’s creation, or manifestation.

When we are governed by the One Ego or divine Being, we are in harmony with those around us.  We are in harmony with boundless bliss and joy.  We are in harmony with having each of our needs met and supplied, moment-by-moment.

We feel centered and balanced and just, untouched or affected.  Any seeming “attack” just rolls off like water on a duck’s back.

This is being in accord with the First Commandment: Thou shalt have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:3)  Don’t worship or praise or give your attention to anything else but “me” – the God of harmony, peace, forgiveness, and charity. Definitely pray about and heal each situation, each circumstance in your own thought.  Thought is where real change happens and it blesses you as well as others.  You will feel the effect; you will feel the needed change.

This is actually the source of our health – where our health comes from – God.  This One Mind, or Spirit governs us righteously.  And following this reveals who we are as His/Her children and with divine rights: intelligence, brilliance, happiness, health and freedom.

So let’s “let go” of anything that hinders us from feeling and cherishing our oneness with Spirit.  Spirit, Love has already blessed us, and we can rejoice in this blessing. Let go of anything that is separating you from feeling your oneness now.

Gratitude & Thanksgiving – Why I Love Christian Science

Even as I write the title of this blog, my heart fills with warmth and love.  I am so grateful for Christian Science, and the understanding of God that it unlocks.   And, lately, as I have been learning more about spiritual creation, I have been moved to reminisce of my family and growing up with Christian Science.

My childhood wasn’t humanly perfect, – growing up with a single mom, living in a condo, being the youngest of two.  But as I look back, I remember a sense of love.  The memory of my childhood is wrapped up in an aura of divine Love.  We were taught that God loves us, and that “divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494) I felt that God takes care of every aspect of us being human, and we are His beloved children.  And I also knew there wasn’t a need to worry or fear; I couldn’t be deprived of anything that was good.

My family and I had lots of physical healings through prayer (with the help of a Christian Science practitioner, – an individual who supports you in prayer), such as colds, chicken pox, bloody noses, cuts and scrapes, sports injuries, nausea, warts, etc.

We learned how to pray in Sunday School, to align our thought with God.  We were taught that God is Mind, and always gives us every “angel” idea that we need to make us feel better or to direct and guide us.  We were told that God created us spiritually, in His image and likeness (Gen 1:26), therefore we are his spiritual, perfect creation (S&H, p. 468). I grew up being told that I was God’s perfect child (even if I didn’t always act that way 🙂 ).

Even in my teen years, when I decided to live a more material lifestyle, and got myself into all kinds of things, I always knew there was a better way.  I could love Him and live as God’s child if I wanted to.  Well eventually I did want to.  Life with God in it makes me more happy, secure and confident.  And it’s been a joy to “re-discover” Christian Science, and what it tells me about God and my relationship to Him, in my adult years.  It makes me feel like a kid again, – like the perfect child of God that I am and always will be, just as I was taught in childhood.

Now it’s wonderful to share the nature of God, as explained through Christian Science, with others.  Christian Science has given me a fuller life, a greater understanding of God and everyone’s relationship with Him, and has made me a more loving, selfless and giving person.  I’m so grateful for every opportunity to learn more about spiritual existence each day.  Happy Thanksgiving!
